Today’s sensory setup was construction themed, taking inspiration from Emma Garcia’s ‘Tip Tip Dig Dig’ book. There was no prep needed as I used everything we had at home - Kinetic sand, Coco Pops, green lentils, left over raisins from breakfast, and some pebbles from the garden. I just added some of Elijah’s toy work vehicles and logs.

This has to be one of Elijah’s favourite setups so far! Before I’d even finished setting it up, he was already collecting the pebbles and transferring them to other pots. He loved picking, pouring, and making car noises as he pushed the vehicles around the tray.
The tray is great for:
🚜 Language development: The ‘Tip Tip Dig Dig’ book really helps with this because it includes vocabulary like ‘roll’, ‘lift’, ‘mix’, ‘dig’, and ‘tip’.
🚜 Improving fine motor skills through scooping, picking, grasping, and pouring.
🚜 Encouraging sensory exploration of different textures and sounds.
Tag me @brummymummydiaries if you give this a try, I’d love to see!
