We were kindly gifted the new Smoby Barber Shop to test and review. Elijah loves imaginative play, so we were super excited to receive the playset! We didn't previously know that anything like this existed. There are lots of hairdresser and beauty salon role-play toys out there, but not many, if any, barber shops!
The barber shop combines three super fun role-play areas all in one exciting playset!
𝟏. 𝐌𝐞𝐫𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐂𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫
The merchant counter has a lockable cash register, debit card reader, treatment cards, coins, and a bank card. This area is great for children to learn about money exchange and counting! We love the little treatment cards that show the prices of the treatment and the total price, which helps children learn and recognise addition calculations.
Elijah enjoyed putting the debit card in the reader and pretending to type in his PIN numbers, and then shout "all finished" when the transaction was complete! He also loved locking all of the change away in the lockable money drawer.
𝟐. 𝐇𝐚𝐢𝐫 𝐖𝐚𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧
The hair washing station has a showerhead and basin where your little one can pretend to wash your hair! The playset includes accessories like a shampoo bottle, so you're little one can really get immersed into their new role as a hairdresser/barber! There's also a stool where children can sit while they get their hair washed.
𝟑. 𝐇𝐚𝐢𝐫 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐁𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐝 𝐓𝐫𝐢𝐦𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐀𝐫𝐞𝐚
The hairdressing table incorporates a functioning removable mirror, storage areas and shelves. The playset comes with all the tools your children need to get involved in the pretend hair and beard trimming, including:
foaming lotions
cream
shaving brush
razor
comb
scissors
mechanical trimmer (1,2,3 length)
With so many accessories to choose from, your child can enjoy endless play as they take on the role of a barber/hairdresser! We were so surprised that Elijah knew what to do with the shaving brush and razor! He was great at trimming his daddy's beard! It's great that the playset also teaches children skills for later life and gives them the familiarity of having a hair cut, making the time when they do go for an actual hair cut less stressful as they are already familiar with the tools and procedure!
The Smoby Barber Shop is great for indoor imaginative play! There's so much fun to be had as your child can play the role of salesman, skilled barber, or a happy customer!
