We had a very spontaneous trip to Scotty's Donkeys this afternoon. After seeing the lovely reviews, we thought we would give it a go while we were in the area and we weren't disappointed.
Scotty's Donkeys and Animal Park is a family run business in Norton (close to Bridgnorth and Telford). What we loved most about the park was that we could get up close to the animals to pet and feed them. This is an experience that is really hard to find these days, especially one that doesn't cost an arm and a leg. We fed the sheep, goats, and deer - and enjoyed stroking the horses, donkeys, cows, and rabbits. You can feed most of the animals in the park apart from the horses and donkeys. There is plenty of handwashing and hand-sanitiser stations around the park and a one-way system in place.
Elijah enjoyed staring at the cows, laughing at the pigs, and watching the chickens running around. It was his first time seeing farm animals, so it was a great experience for us. There is also a picnic area with a few outdoor toys and an indoor sandpit for the little ones to enjoy. The park does usually have a bouncy castle, Piggy's play barn, and donkey rides but these are currently not operating due to covid.
With the admission price of £5pp, under 2s free, and just £1 for a tub of animal feed - Scotty's Donkeys is great value for money. There is no need to pre-book, just turn up and pay at the entrance.
Just outside of the entrance to Scotty's Donkeys are a few independent shops including the Moongate Plant Centre, Paint & Create, and Big Little Things.
The Apley Farm Shop (open 9.30-4) sells fresh, local food from local producers including meat, cheese, fresh bread, and cakes. Next door is The Apley Kitchen (open 9.30-3) where you can grab a bite to eat or if you prefer something on the go, they have a catering van just outside of the cafe too. It sure is a great way to spend a few hours!
