Elijah loved his ice cream parlour tray I set up for him on the weekend! The tray included taste safe foam (chickpea foam), cupcake sprinkles, multicoloured rice, ice cream cones, and chocolate brown and lime green play dough from Oki Dough Ki.

Elijah loved scooping the ice cream into the cones and pouring the sprinkles into the tray and picking them back out again. He also enjoyed adding toppings to the play dough ice cream.
To make the taste safe foam:
▫️Drain the juice from a 400g can of chickpeas into a bowl.
▫️Add 1/2 teaspoon of cream of tartar.
▫️Beat for 3-4 minutes until a foam is formed (I recommend using an electric hand whisk).
▫️To make different coloured foam, separate the mixture into 3 bowls and add a pink food colouring to one bowl and blue in another and mix until the colour you want is formed. Then add into the tray.
▫️I recommend prepping this just before you play as the foam does turn back into a water consistency within 20 minutes.

What are the benefits of this tray?
🍦Develops fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination by scooping, mixing, picking, and pouring.
🍦Adding colour enables swirls and patterns to form when mark making.
🍦It can be adapted for all ages: Why don’t you set up an ice cream shop where your little one can take your ice cream order, count your money, and give you the correct change?
🍦You can add comprehension questions: What happens when the colours mix together? Why is there liquid at the bottom of the tray? What’s your favourite ice cream? When was the last time you ate ice cream?
