Looking for fun and affordable Easter activities for the whole family in Birmingham and beyond? The West Midlands offers a wide range of low-cost events and attractions to enjoy during the Easter holidays. From Easter egg hunts and Easter trails to arts and crafts workshops, there is something for everyone to get involved in without breaking the bank.

Free and Low-Cost Easter Events and Activities in the West Midlands

There are so many great events happening across the West Midlands during the Easter break that don't have to be super expensive outings. In this blog, I've quantified "low-cost" as events that cost less than £10 per person. Do check back as this list of free and low-cost Easter events in the West Midlands will be regularly updated.

Selly Manor: Wind in the Willows Easter Activities

Hop on down to Selly Manor this Easter for eggcellent activities inspired by the Wind in the Willows. Join Mole, Ratty, Badger, and Toad on an adventure at the manor. Take part in Selly Manor's fantastic egg hunt, get creative with some Easter-themed crafts, and play games in the lovely Selly Manor garden. 


When? Monday 25th March to Friday 5th April, 10am-5pm (last entry at 3.30pm).

Cheap Easter Events in Birmingham 2024 - Selly Manor

Forge Mill Farm: New Life at the Farm

At Forge Mill Farm this Easter, visitors can meet the farm's lambs, kids, calves, and chicks (and may even witness a live birth)! Engage in 'New Life Bingo' and join the Easter Egg Hunt within the indoor bale maze. Guests can also meet the chicks and learn about their lifecycle, with the possibility of witnessing a hatch. Additionally, enjoy all the usual fun activities available on the farm.


When? Saturday 23rd March to Sunday 7th April.

RSPB Sandwell Valley: Easter Egg Hunt

Are you ready for an Easter Egg hunt this Easter? The reserve is seeking the very best young nature detectives to assist in finding lost Easter eggs. Families can explore the reserve, searching for clues and participating in wildlife activities to complete their challenge.


Each egg hunt pack, priced at £3.50, contains everything needed for a wild Easter adventure. No booking is required for this event, available Tuesday through Sunday from 10:30 am to 3:30 pm. Please note that the eggs are not chocolate eggs; this is not a chocolate egg hunt.


When? Saturday 23rd March to Sunday 14th April.

Where? RSPB Sandwell Valley, Tanhouse Avenue, West Bromwich, West Midlands B43 5AG.

How much? £3.50 per trail sheet.


Birmingham Botanical Gardens: Botanical Easter Egg Trail

Set off on an adventure at Birmingham Botanical Gardens to find all eight specially created botanical eggs while discovering the incredible spring flora around the Gardens. The trail is recommended for children aged 6+ years. Trail sheets are £1.25 per sheet, which can be booked online, or purchased on arrival at the Welcome Desk.


When? Available every day from 23 March - 7th April (10am – 4pm)

Where? Westbourne Road, Birmingham B15 3TR.

How much? General admission (£7.50 per adult, £5.50 per child aged between 5 and 16, cheaper family tickets available).


Sycamore Adventure: Easter Events

Sycamore Adventure is a lovely play area in Sedgley that hosts general family days and inclusive play sessions for children with disabilities and their families.


During the Easter holidays, there are lots of sessions:

  • Saturday 23rd March, 11am-2pm, Family Play

  • Monday 25th March, 11am-3pm, Easter themes at Family Play

  • Tuesday 26th March, 10am-3pm, Easter themes at Inclusive Play for children who have disabilities and their families

  • Wednesday 27th March, 11am-3pm, Easter games at Family Play

  • Thursday 28th March, 10am-3pm, Sassy Sensory at Inclusive Play for children who have disabilities and their families

  • Tuesday 2nd April, 10am-3pm, Inclusive Play for children who have disabilities and their families

  • Wednesday 3rd April, 11am-3pm, Outdoor activities at Family Play

  • Thursday 4th April, 10am-3pm, Sassy Sensory at Inclusive Play for children who have disabilities and their families

  • Friday 5th April, 11am-3pm, Outdoor activities at Family Play

Sedgley Adventure Centre

Sedgley Adventure Centre is reopening on Sunday 24th of March, just in time for the Easter half term. Easter events are pre-book only. For general admission to the farm, it costs £3 adult per adult and £2.50 per child. Petting sessions are an extra £5 per child.

Mini Golf costs £5 per adult, £4 per child and family tickets are £15. Or you can grab a combo ticket for both the Farm/Petting Sessions (including a pot of animal feed ) and Mini Golf for just £40 for a family. Petting sessions run on the hour from 11 am till 3pm.


Alternatively, you can meet the lambs this easter half term. Get to spend time holding, and playing with as well as getting the opportunity to give the cade lambs a bottle feed!

Dates available are from 28th March- 7th April with a 12:30 start. Prices are £6 a child and £5 an adult including farm entrance after the session.

Castle Bromwich Hall Gardens: Easter Egg Hunts

Nestled in the heart of Birmingham, Castle Bromwich Hall Gardens is steeped in history and natural beauty. Every day during the Easter holidays, children can get involved and solve the Easter trail questions to win a reward (A Cadbury Creme Egg, Skittles, or a Chocolate Bunny). No need to book, just turn up.


When? Saturday 23rd March to Sunday 7th April.

Witley Court and Gardens: Easter Adventure Quest

Witley Court and Gardens, once a lavish stately home, the estate now stands as a captivating ruin, offering visitors a glimpse into its illustrious past. Surrounded by picturesque gardens, including the impressive Perseus and Andromeda Fountain, Witley Court continues to enchant visitors with its timeless beauty and historical significance. 


This Easter, children can participate in an Easter quest and scour the grounds for clues, track down the Easter eggs, and receive a chocolate reward at the end. The quest is available daily throughout the Easter holidays, and the cost for the Easter Adventure Quest is £2 per child, in addition to the standard ticket fee. 


When? Saturday 23rd March to Sunday 14th April.

Churchfields: Fun Farm & Easter Trail

Churchfields is a small farm in Worcester, where visitors can indulge in farm-fresh ice cream and explore the picturesque surroundings. During the Easter holidays, Churchfields is hosting two special events, the fun farm and Easter trail being the cheapest of the two options.


This includes:

  • All the fun of the farm: Go-Karts, Mini Farmers Pedal Tractors, the Adventure Playground, Sand Pits, Air Bouncers (subject to weather conditions), and a small soft play area for toddlers in the cafe.

  • Visiting the Potting Shed to plant a Sunflower seed and enjoy a range of Easter Art and Craft Activities.

  • Meeting the lambs and seeing the pigs, goats, and donkeys in the animal paddocks!

  • Easter Trail to guess the name of Harry Hare's Egg Friends and save the fairies!

  • A sweet treat for each paying child.

During the bank holiday weekend, Churchfields is hosting an Easter EGG-stravaganza where children can meet and greet special guests and take part in an Egg Hunt (and a free Easter Egg for each child). When? Fun Farm and Easter Trail is taking place between Saturday 23rd March to Wednesday 27th March then Tuesday 2nd April to Sunday 7th April.

Rodbaston Animal Zone: Easter Eggstravaganza

Rodbaston Animal Zone is a beloved attraction where visitors can get up close and personal with a variety of fascinating creatures. During the Easter Eggstravaganza event, Rodbaston Animal Zone is offering 2-for-1 on kids admission, making the day out even cheaper! 


Here’s what’s on offer during the Easter Eggstravaganza event:

  • Meet the Easter Bunny daily at 12.30pm

  • Easter Egg Trail

  • Easter Bonnet parade (Easter Sunday ONLY – 31st March)

Essington Farm: Easter Trail

Essington Farm offers a delightful farm-to-fork experience with its fresh produce, charming farm shop, and cosy café. For Easter, the farm is hosting an Easter trail, which includes a prize at the end.


When? Thursday 28th March to Friday 5th April.

Where? Bognop Road, Essington, Wolverhampton WV11 2AZ.

How much? Adults £2.50 and Children £5.


Amerton Railway Easter Egg Hunt

Head down to Amerton Railway on Saturday 30th and Sunday 31st March for our Easter egg hunt! Trains run from 11:30 until 16:30 and there is no need to book! You’ll start your day at the ticket office and collect a spotting sheet and your train ticket. Once on board the train you’ll notice the eggs left along the line, spot all of these and when you return to Amerton come into the ticket office for a treat.


When? Saturday 30th and Sunday 31st March 2024.

Amerton Railway Easter Egg Hunt

Bodenham Arboretum: Hunt the Golden Egg

Bodenham Arboretum showcases the beauty of nature with its diverse collection of trees and stunning gardens. This Easter, Bodenham Arboretum is hosting an Easter trail (Hunt the Golden Egg) - follow the clues and collect a prize!


When? Saturday 23rd March to Sunday 7th April.

Where? Bodenham Lane, Kidderminster DY11 5TB.

How much? Adults £8, Children (aged 3+) £5, Family Ticket £26.


Low Cost Easter Event in Worcestershire - Bodenham Arboretum

Arley Arboretum: Easter Egg Hunt

This Easter, join Arley Arboretum for an egg hunt! There will be lots of wooden eggs hidden around the Arboretum and your children must count how many eggs they have found to the kiosk staff, and will get a prize if they find them all (or nearly all of them!). Please note: The egg hunt is not a trail, it's a simple hunt. But there will be a separate spring trail to enjoy at the same time, included in your normal admission ticket.

There's also a play area, maze, lots of open space with views of the Severn Valley, and a tearoom serving a range of homemade delights.


When? Saturday 23rd March to Sunday 7th April. Open Wednesday to Sunday and Bank Holiday Monday, 10am to 5pm.

Arley Arboretum Easter Egg Hunt - Low Cost Easter Event in Worcestershire

Tamworth Castle: Dragon Egg Hunt

Tamworth Castle is a Norman motte-and-bailey castle that boasts a rich history spanning over 900 years. Ruby the Castle Dragon has hidden her eggs from the dastardly dragon hunter. Visitors are invited to help Ruby find her eggs and earn a reward for their hard work. This activity is included in general admission.


Please note: There is no live interaction during this event.


When? Saturday 23rd March - Sunday 7th April.

Where? Tamworth Castle, Holloway, Tamworth, Staffordshire, B79 7NA.

How much? Adults £9.95, Children £7.50, Family ticket (up to 5 people) £37.50. No pre-booking necessary, but you can pre-book online if you wish.


Severn Gorge Countryside Trust: Easter Egg Hunt & Crafts

Join The Severn Gorge Countryside Trust for some fun Easter Crafts and explore the woods to complete the Easter Trail, follow all the clues and perhaps you will get a delicious surprise at the end! Make sure to wear suitable outdoor footwear and play clothes. The uneven terrain is not suitable for pushchairs.


When? Tuesday 26th March 10am-12pm

Where? The Severn Gorge Countryside Trust, Darby Road, Coalbrookdale Telford TF8 7EP.

How much? £3 per person (under 2s go free).


Becketts Farm

Becketts Farm offers a blend of farm-fresh produce, artisanal goods, and family-friendly activities. This Easter, you can learn about the chick-hatching process, and there will also be ewes and lambs, goats and kids and chickens. There will also be some themed craft activities to take part in (some activities have an additional charge).


When? Saturday 23rd March - Sunday 7th April. Open daily 10am-3pm.

How much? £3 entry per person (under 1s go free). There is no need to book.

Whitlenge Gardens

Enjoy Whitlenge Gardens decorated with bunnies and eggs galore! No pre-booking required.

Forge Mill Needle Museum: Easter Egg Trail

From Saturday 23rd March to Sunday 31st March, children can make a basket and hunt for eggs around the site to exchange for a chocolate treat! This costs just £2 per child.


In addition to this, on Friday 29th and Saturday 30th, there will be an Easter celebration, which will include live music in the afternoon, craft stalls, and an extended egg trail over the Abbey Meadows (weather permitting). £2 per "eggsplorer".

Newlands Bishop Farm: Easter Egg Hunt 2024

Join Newlands Bishop Farm for a fun-filled Easter Egg Hunt! Search for letters hidden throughout the farm and once all the letters are found you will win a prize.

Cheap Easter Events West Midlands - Lightwoods House

Easter Egg Hunts at Various National Trust Sites

Easter egg hunts are taking place at lots of National Trust sites across the Midlands. Prices are £3 per trail (plus the cost of admission) which includes an Easter trail sheet, pencil, bunny ears, and Rainforest Alliance Certified cocoa dairy or vegan and Free From* chocolate egg. *Suitable for people with milk, egg, gluten, peanut, and tree nut allergies.


If you're a National Trust Member, all you need to do is pay £3 per child to participate in the Easter Egg Hunt. If you're not a member, admission costs apply. Please see the individual properties on the National Trust website for more info!
