#AD • We were invited to Carters Steam Fair at Beacon Park in Lichfield on Saturday and had such an amazing time - we absolutely loved every second!
Carters travelling steam fair dates from the 1890s to the 1960s and has been featured in films such as Paddington 2 and Rocketman. Over the past 40 years, Carters Steam Fair has been rescuing and restoring vintage fairground rides for everyone to enjoy. Joby Carter and his team work to beautifully restore the signwriting and traditional decoration of the rides and stalls. The rides at Carters Steam Fair are suitable for both toddlers, older children, and adults. Our little boy Elijah loved the ark, steam gallopers, toy town, and Austin cars. We loved that we could get on some of the rides with Elijah (steam gallopers, ark, train ride, jets, and boat ride) and that some of the stalls you can win a prize every time (hook a duck and high striker). We had games on the hook a duck and coconut shy - my partner, Josh, even got a score of 100 on the high striker too! Honestly, I think us adults had just as much fun as the little ones!
As well as the rides, the fair has beautifully decorated living wagons and vintage vehicles on display. We definitely recommend going if you live locally. The fair has been grounded for the last year because of the coronavirus pandemic and the owner Joby Carter has put a lot of thought into ensuring the fairground experience is covid-secure. They really do appreciate all the support 🥰
🎟 Entry to the fair is free for all to enjoy. You need tokens to go on the rides and play games at the side stalls. Tokens are 50p each with rides costing between 5-6 tokens. You can get free rides when you book online in advance and tokens are also available to buy at the fair too.

🍩 Yummy doughnuts 4 for £3, candy floss £2.50 each, hot and cold drinks, as well as hot food.

🪝 Hook a duck, high striker, cork shooter, coconut shy, shooting saloon, hook a fish, and balla games.
🎈 Character balloons £5 each.
🕚 Open every day 11-7pm from 24th July until 1st August. Before it moves on to Royal Victoria Park in Bath (7th August - 22nd August).
